There is a lot to information take in during your first week, so we have picked out 5 things you need to know about the Library and each day this week we will tell you about a different aspect of the Library service through our blog.

2 – Renewing your books (and avoiding fines!)

You can renew your books online via the Library Catalogue at http://unicorn.sgul.ac.uk

Click on My Record and select Renew My Loans, you will need to enter your user ID (the 10 digits under the barcode on your ID card)

Remember! Check that all your books have been renewed

Items will not renew if:

  • They have been renewed 5 times
  • You have outstanding fines of £10 or over
  • Another reader has requested it

After 5 renewals you need to return the books to the Library. If you want to keep them for longer, you can return and re-issue them on the self-services machines.

Don’t forget! Late fines will be charged on overdue items: One week loans: 20p per day – that can be up to £10 per week if you have your full quota of books out Three week loans: 10p per day

So, please remember to return or renew our books on time!
