Self-Service Kiosks – Due Dates

January 28 2019stglibrary

ssk

Library staff have been made aware that when users are borrowing books, our self-service kiosks are sometimes giving incorrect due dates on the receipts at the end of the transaction. This is due to the kiosks ‘Americanising’ the date format. Your books have been issued to the correct date on Alma – the Library management system.

If you have any doubt about the correct due date for your item(s), you can check them 24/7 from anywhere you have internet connection. Simply visit the Library homepage and sign-in to Hunter by clicking the ‘My Account‘ button in the middle of the page, or from the links in the left-hand navigation.

If you have any questions relating to your Library account, please contact the User Services team by emailing library@sgul.ac.uk

We had just finished teaching our information skills sessions this evening when we caught this glorious sunset from the 5th floor of Hunter wing. A lovely way to end the day... 🌅 #stgeorges #sgul #sgullife #Tooting #tootingbec #tootingbroadway #london #sw17 #sunset #nofilter #librarylife #librariesofinstagram
Happy Birthday John Hunter! Often referred to as the Father of Modern Surgery, Hunter was born #OTD in 1728 & is one of @stgeorgesunioflondon most famous alumni. In this line etching, you might be able to spot the legs of the skeleton of Charles Byrne, known as the Irish Giant. . At 7ft 7in tall, Byrne feared that after his death Hunter would gain access to his body for dissection & organised a sea burial for himself. However, Hunter had made secret arrangements for the lead coffin to be hauled back to shore. The skeleton of Byrne remains today the Hunterian Museum in London. . However, last year it was reported that Byrne's final wishes might finally be granted. The future of his skeleton is currently being discussed while the museum is closed for refurbishment... . . #stgeorges #sgul #sgullife #johnhunter #archives #stgeorgesarchives #histmed #histsci
It's International Day of Women and Girls in Science! Back in January, @angeladsaini visited St George's to talk about her book, Inferior. It is a remarkable read that: A) Unpicks the evidence for and against sex difference B) Examines the social and historical context of this research and shows how sexism has been woven into science C) Highlights some of the incredible women working in science today. We've got two copies available in the Library and it comes highly recommended by your resident Library instagrammer! #librarylife #librariesofinstagram #bookreview #bookcover #bookstagram #inferior #angelasaini #histmed #histsci #feminism #medschool #WomenInScience
