IT Workshops January 2013

The following IT workshops are taking place in the Library training room in January.  These workshops are free of charge for University staff and students. There is a fee of £20 per person per workshop for NHS Staff.

Access Queries, Thursday 17th January 10.00am – 1.00pm, Library training room

Queries provide a very powerful way of extracting information from your table structures. A query is like a report based on the data in a table. Once the criteria and output fields are specified, Access will search through the information and produce a table of matching records. By using features such as expressions, operators, and sorting and moving fields within a query, there is virtually no limit to the information you can extract from a table.

Statistics in Excel, Tuesday 29th January 2.00pm – 4.30pm, Library training room

This session is for those who want to use Excel to analyse data using descriptive statistical methods. This session will cover a range of methods using Excel built in functions and charts. You will learn how to use percentages and proportions, organise data (tables, graphing),Averages, Frequency and Count-IF.

Excel Pivot Tables, Thursday 31st January 1.00pm – 4.00pm, Library training room

A Pivot table is a way to extract data from a long list of information and present it in a readable form. Pivot tables can be used to summarise, analyse, explore and present your data.

You will learn how to create a Pivot Table, pivot a Pivot Table, create a Pivot Chart, refresh a Pivot Table and select elements of a Pivot Table.
